Fishers of Men

Wednesday started out with a trip back up to Kuhla (our babies :). A few of us rode up with Leticia and Thembe who were also heading up there to teach the skills class... an entrepreneurial crafting class. This class was developed to teach the women of the crèche skills in a variety of crafting so that they may one day start their own business and sell their products in order to provide for their families.

Our conversation turned to God's inner working in our lives. We all had experienced times in our lives where, looking back, it is jaw dropping to see how God pulled it all together. (such was my experience in coming to South Africa). Leticia said something thought provoking for me...she said, "Don't you feel a sense of safety because of that? Because God is steps ahead of you, already paving the way and preparing the next step for you. He is already working for you in the place He needs you to be, and knows you will be, next!" Wow!! Yes!! So true!!!

She went on to stress why it is such a blessing to do His work when He calls you to do it. It's not always easy or pleasant work, but it's such a blessing.
And God will do His work with or without you! The question is...are you going to miss out on what this opportunity will do to grow YOU?!! It is true that God calls us to action, but He will find others when you say "no". And oh the things you will miss out on!! God uses these times to stretch you, to soften your heart, to help you breath new air full of new life, to teach you a new skill, to sharpen your senses, to build your character, and to show you love like you've never experienced it! I don't ever want to miss out on that!!

Pastor Trevor set up our week stressing the same thing. That this mission trip was not about what we were coming to do here in South Africa, but what God was going to be doing in US! Someone said, "this is not about a project, this is about people". Again...so true!! We cannot come here and fix these global issues, but we can share our love and our time, we can listen to their stories, and we be the hands and feet for God!
