Hard truth

We visited a township today, and it was probably the saddest thing I've ever seen. You will see what I mean when you look at the pictures. I witnessed poverty on the most extreme level I've ever seen. I saw women and children getting water from a well while standing in swampy puddles of water. And here is what I know of these communities:

1. The percentage of people infected with HIV/AIDS is somewhere between 80 and 90 percent.

2. Women and children are not safe to leave their shacks at night, as they will most likely become victims of rape. Men are told by local shaman that in order to be healed from AIDS, they must sleep with a virgin. This is the spiritual warfare they face.

I encourage you to read this post as many times as you need to in order for this to sink in. I'm not trying to bring any of you down or make you sad. But I need for your hearts to break for the people. I need your heart to break for the children! I need you to pray for understanding...that they may understand that raping one another will not heal their sickness, but in fact, spread it. I need you to pray without judgement. I need you to understand why the people need to know that there is a God who weeps for their pain and suffering, and that He loves them so much! I need for you to pray for this community!! PLEASE COMMIT TO PRAYING FOR THESE COMMUNITIES!!! Thank you!!!!
